2023 Regional Grantee Appreciation Events Are a Success
Health is local, and regional grantee events give organizations a chance to strengthen their relationships with each other.
The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation recently hosted our inaugural regional grantee appreciation events, recognizing and celebrating the work of Foundation grantees.
Past events recognizing Foundation grantees have been centrally located in Columbia, S.C., but this year the Foundation made the switch to regional events to provide the organizations with a better opportunity to network at a local level. Says Lindsey Kilgo, Program Officer at the Foundation:
Health is local and we wanted to give grantees the chance to strengthen relationships with each other. We see the possibility and power that the cross — pollination of ideas between grantees will lead to even more positive change in the communities they serve.
In addition to discussing their work with each other, grantee employees had the opportunity to network with the Foundation team and with local elected officials.
Attendees lauded the events, saying that they appreciated making connections and hearing about other projects:
"No matter how long we've been at work pursuing partnerships, there are always more connections to make! We were pleasantly surprised at the number of new connections made."
"I was able to learn a lot about what other grant recipients are doing for their projects"
"It’s a good reminder that we need to be communicating regularly with nonprofits across the state."
It was so inspiring to hear about all the great work our nonprofits are doing to better our community thanks to the support of the Foundation.
