Harvey L. Galloway
Harvey L. Galloway is currently the executive director of the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation. Galloway’s experiences with BlueCross and wholly owned subsidiaries span 45 years.
Galloway has served on many boards involving health care and not-for-profit organizations whose goals were to improve health and promote cultural growth for South Carolina. He has received numerous recognitions, including Palmetto Patriot in 2008 for his work in helping to improve health care in South Carolina and an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service in 2014 from Charleston Southern University, where he delivered the 2014 Commencement Address.
Galloway did his undergraduate work at Presbyterian College and graduate work at the Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri at Kansas City in Managed Health Care Administration.
Senior Research Consultant/Grant Manager
Erika Kirby has 20 years of experience in the health care arena, spanning the clinical, public health, academia and non-profit sectors.
Kirby received her bachelor's of Science from the University of Dayton, in Dayton Ohio, in Nutrition/Pre-med. She completed her dietetic residency at The Cleveland Clinic, then completed the national board process to become a registered dietitian. Kirby went on to get a master's of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business.
Kirby previously worked at the director of a state public health division designed to impact obesity and related chronic health conditions in South Carolina. During this time, she built partnerships and collaborations to create places to support healthy eating and active living through the translation of research to practice. Kirby was involved in the South Carolina’s first Health Impact Assessment.
Kirby has been involved and has held leadership roles in a variety of local, state and national organizations that address issues spanning from mental health, adolescent systems of care, teen pregnancy, health system networks and childhood obesity. She currently serves on the board of directors for Eat Smart, Move More SC, and Advocacy committee.
Research Analyst/Grant Manager
Bree Bess serves as the evaluation and monitoring coordinator for the Foundation. She focuses on evaluating the impact of the Foundation’s investments in serving the health of South Carolina’s economically vulnerable.
Bess has a master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management from the George H. W. Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, where her research centered on the landscape and management of philanthropic foundations. She also attended the University of South Carolina for her undergraduate work.
Bess brings experience in developing performance measurement systems and managing grant application, initiation and renewal processes from grant-making foundations. As a lifetime volunteer, she is passionate about the nonprofit sector and serving the Palmetto State.
