Is there a maximum dollar amount for grant requests?
No, but the proposed budget must justify the request amount, and the Foundation reserves the right to award an amount it chooses.
My organization has submitted a Letter of Intent, what next?
The Foundation will review the Letter of Intent and will notify your organization in a timely manner if it is invited to submit a full proposal or if we have declined the letter.
My organization has been invited to submit a proposal. When will I know the status of the proposal?
Board meetings are generally held six weeks after the proposal deadline. The Foundation will advise applicants of the proposal status within a timely manner following the board meeting.
If my organization is invited to apply, does that guarantee that the Foundation will award us a grant?
No. Also, if the Foundation awards a grant, it may be for less or more funds than the amount requested.
Who makes the final decision regarding approval or denial of a grant?
The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation Board of Directors reviews the proposals and determines grant awards.
If the Foundation denies a Letter of Intent or proposal, can an organization be reconsidered in a future funding cycle?
Yes. The process is the same as for first-time submissions. To be reconsidered, an organization must begin the grant process with a Letter of Intent. Then, if requested by the Foundation, the organization may submit a grant proposal.
Will the Foundation help me write a Letter of Intent or proposal?
The Foundation does not provide grant writing assistance.
How many copies of the Letter of Intent or proposal do I need to submit?
Only one copy is needed.
Can I e-mail or fax my Letter of Intent or proposal?
No.
Can I hand deliver my Letter of Intent or proposal?
Yes. Hand deliveries can be made to 4101 Percival Road, corner of Clemson and Percival Roads, in Northeast Columbia.
What if I miss the deadline for submission?
If you miss the submission deadline for either the Letter of Intent or proposal, you must wait for the next grant cycle to submit another Letter of Intent.
